The Guidelines International Network is proud to highlight its official journal, Clinical and Public Health Guidelines (CPHG), the first journal dedicated exclusively to advancing the science of guideline development and implementation. As a fully open access, international journal, CPHG publishes cutting-edge research on guideline methods, development, implementation, and evaluation, supporting better decision making across clinical and public health systems worldwide.
At the upcoming GIN Annual Conference, GIN2026, CPHG will play a central role in the programme, offering delegates exciting opportunities to connect, learn, and engage. We are looking forward to two featured sessions will highlight the journal’s work:
- Meet the Editor: Hear directly from Editor-in-Chief Dr Ivan D. Florez, ask questions, and gain insights into publishing with CPHG.
- Inaugural CPHG Annual Lecture: Delivered by Professor Elie Akl, this plenary will mark a milestone moment for the journal.
Upcoming Special Issue: High-Value Care
In the lead up to the Conference, we are also excited to announce that CPHG is currently preparing to launch its first Special Issue, focused on High-Value Care—a theme closely aligned with GIN2026—exploring ways in which clinical and public health guidelines can support more effective, equitable, and resource conscious healthcare worldwide.
High-value care focuses on improving patient outcomes while reducing harm and avoiding unnecessary costs. Guidelines play a critical role in achieving this balance, and this Special Issue will examine how guidelines can drive smarter, more efficient and equitable healthcare decisions worldwide.
We welcome submissions exploring the intersection of guidelines and high-value care, including:
- Sustainability, planetary health, and environmental impact
- Reducing overdiagnosis and unnecessary care
- Deprescribing practices
- Guideline implementation in low-resource settings
- Implementation strategies for high-value care
- The intersection of health technology assessment (HTA) and guidelines
Key questions this Special Issue seeks to address include:
- How can guidelines better support sustainable and resource-conscious healthcare systems?
- What methods improve the translation of evidence into high-value clinical and public health practice?
- How can innovation and technology strengthen guideline development and implementation globally to obtain the highest value care?
- How can guidelines and economic analyses (including HTA and Budget impact analyses) work collaboratively towards the same aim?
- How can guidelines perspective on planetary health can support high value care?
How to contribute to the Special Issue
Submissions are not yet open for the Special Issue, but further details, including submission timelines and guidance for authors, will be announced in May. However, the submission deadline is planned for 16 November 2026, giving prospective contributors time to prepare their work following the GIN annual conference.
This is an opportunity to contribute to an international conversation on high-value care that will be shaped both by the conference and by the published issue and we encourage submissions from researchers, clinicians, policymakers, methodologists, and global health practitioners across diverse settings.
The Special Issue will be edited by Dr Karen Sharmini Sandanasamy (Malaysia), Dr Valentina Ricci (Singapore) and Dr Ivan D. Florez (Colombia) – all of whom are members of the Scientific Committee for GIN2026.
Publishing in CPHG offers several benefits:
- Fully Gold Open Access for maximum visibility and reach
- Benefit from article level promotion through GIN’s communication channels
- Opportunities for APC waivers or discounts via Wiley’s Transformational Agreements
