The GIN Board is placing increased focus on engaging and supporting the next generation. We are developing a range of initiatives to better connect and support students and early career professionals across our global community.
Since 2025, a dedicated group of student and early career members has been working with us to shape these initiatives and ensure they reflect the needs and ambitions of emerging professionals in the field.
What’s coming at GIN2026
Our Annual Conference is a key moment for bringing together the global guidelines community. Feedback from 2025 focus groups highlighted a clear need for more structured opportunities for students and early career professionals to connect — both with peers and with experienced leaders.
In response, we are introducing new, dedicated opportunities during GIN2026:
- Early Career Networking Session
(15 September, before the Welcome Reception)
A dedicated space to meet peers, build connections and start the conference with already new connections made.
- Speed Networking with Experienced Leaders
A dynamic session linking students and early career professionals with senior researchers, GIN Board members, plenary speakers etc.
More details will be available in the conference programme (published in July).
New Professional Development Webinar Series
We are also launching a new professional development webinar series, open to both members and non-members. These short, practical “how-to” sessions (starting Autumn 2026) will cover topics related to:
- Academic writing and publishing
- Engaging with policymakers
- Presentation and networking skills
- Career development
- Grant writing and funding success
These live sessions will be open to all, with recordings available on demand for GIN members.
