Valentina is a senior lead specialist in the Evidence to Practice Office (ETPO) at the Agency for Care Effectiveness (ACE) in the Ministry of Health, Singapore. Her clinical background is in physiotherapy, which she studied at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy.

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she took an internship at the World Health Organisation in Geneva, then moved to London to attend the MSc on Social Epidemiology at UCL. Her work in guidelines started right after, when she joined the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as systematic reviewer and research fellow. There, she worked on numerous guidelines focusing on maternal and child health issues. To explore working in the private sector, she joined a healthcare consulting firm in London where she had the opportunity to further develop her statistical and analytical skills, while enhancing her programme management knowledge. Eager to work closely again with patients and clinicians on improving care, Valentina decided to move to Singapore to join ACE in January 2018 – where the work on developing trustworthy clinical guidelines was ramping up. Since then, she has established herself as a lead guideline methodologist, shaping processes and stakeholder relationships for the delivery of ACE Clinical Guidances (ACGs).

Valentina’s experience spans across all key aspects involved – from scoping, evidence synthesis, evidence-to-recommendations frameworks, to strategic stakeholder management and project management. Currently, she is especially interested in studying the integration of guidelines and heath policy, evaluation of guidelines impact, and development of computable recommendations.
