The Guidelines International Network is proud to highlight its official journal, Clinical and Public Health Guidelines (CPHG), the first journal dedicated exclusively to advancing the science of guideline development and implementation. As a fully open access, international journal, CPHG publishes research on guideline methods, development, implementation, and evaluation, supporting better decision making across clinical and public health systems worldwide.

At the upcoming GIN Annual Conference, GIN2026, CPHG will play a central role in the programme, offering delegates the ideal opportunity to connect with the journal and its editorial leadership. We are looking forward to two featured sessions will highlight the journal’s work:

  • Meet the Editor: Hear directly from Editor-in-Chief Dr Ivan D. Florez, ask your questions, and learn more about publishing with CPHG.
  • Inaugural CPHG Annual Lecture: Delivered by Professor Elie Akl, this plenary will mark an important milestone for the journal and explore key issues shaping the future of guideline development.

Upcoming Special Issue: High-Value Care

Alongside these activities, we are excited to announce that CPHG is currently preparing to launch its first Special Issue, focused on High-Value Care – a theme closely aligned with GIN2026 – and will explore how clinical and public health guidelines can support more effective, equitable, and resource conscious healthcare worldwide.

High value care focuses on improving patient outcomes while reducing harm and avoiding unnecessary costs. Guidelines play a critical role in achieving this balance, and this Special Issue will examine how they can better support sustainable health systems and informed decision making.

The Special Issue will welcome contributions on a range of topics, including:

  • Sustainability, planetary health, and environmental impact
  • Reducing overdiagnosis and unnecessary care
  • Deprescribing practices
  • Guideline implementation in low resource settings
  • The intersection of health technology assessment and guidelines
  • Practical strategies for strengthening implementation

How to contribute to the Special Issue

Submissions are not yet open for the Special Issue, but further details, including submission timelines and guidance for authors, will be announced in May. However, the submission deadline is planned for 16 November 2026, giving prospective contributors time to prepare their work following the GIN annual conference.

We encourage researchers, clinicians, policymakers, methodologists, and global health practitioners to begin considering potential contributions that align with the Special Issue themes. This is an opportunity to contribute to an international conversation on high-value care that will be shaped both by the conference and by the published issue.

The Special Issue will be edited by Dr Karen Sharmini Sandanasamy (Malaysia), Dr Valentina Ricci (Singapore) and Dr Ivan D. Florez (Colombia) – all members of the Scientific Committee for GIN2026.

Publishing in CPHG offers several benefits:

  • Fully Gold Open Access for maximum visibility and reach
  • Article level promotion through GIN’s communication channels
  • Potential APC waivers or discounts via Wiley’s transformational agreements
  • A 10% discount on registration fees for GIN2026 (15-18 September 2026, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) or GIN2027 for authors publishing in the Special Issue

Further information will be shared in May via GIN’s social channels and here on our news pages.
