The Guidelines International Network are pleased to announce the publication of a special issue of Clinical and Public Health Guidelines, GIN’s official open-access Journal, which will be guest-edited by Valentina Ricci and Dr. Karen Sharmini Sandanasamy.

This Special Issue, on the topic of High-Value Care, aligns closely with one of the main themes of GIN2026, the Annual Conference of the Guidelines International Network.

High-value care is about maximizing the health benefits a patient receives for the resources spent, while minimizing potential harms and avoiding wasted resources. Clinical and public health guidelines provide the essential framework for reaching this objective.

We are currently inviting submissions that focus on the intersection between guidelines and high-value care. These may be research articles (including primary studies and evidence syntheses), protocols, commentaries, or methods/tools types of articles about this intersection.

Topics may include but are not restricted to:

  • Planetary health, sustainability, and the environment
  • Overdiagnosis
  • Deprescribing
  • Impact of Guidelines in low-resource settings
  • Guidelines Implementation and High-Value Care
  • Intersection of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and guidelines
  • Other related topics that address low value care and evidence-based recommendations and guidelines at the clinical, public health or health systems levels

We invite submissions from clinicians, researchers, policy-makers, guideline developers, health economists, global and public health practitioners, professional societies, graduate students, patients’ organizations and the broader guideline community.

The submission deadline is 16 November 2026.
