
Dr. Thomas Piggott (he/him) is Medical Officer of Health and CEO of Peterborough Public Health and an Assistant Professor at McMaster University in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact. Dr. Piggott brings experience working at various levels of public health in Canada and internationally. Prior to Peterborough, Dr. Piggott worked as MOH/VP in the Canadian northern region of Labrador and as a field doctor with Médicins Sans Frontières in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dr. Piggott completed medical training, residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine and his PhD in Health Research Methods at McMaster University. His research interests are in guideline methodology, including linkages to access to essential medicines and integrating planetary health dimensions. He has chaired and provided methods support for numerous international guidelines. He works clinically in emergency medicine, is the father of young children, and loves time outdoors in nature.
