Dr. Lorenzo Moja is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical, Surgical and Dental Sciences at the University of Milan (UniMi). His extensive research encompasses a wide spectrum of medicines, assessing the quality and quantity of evidence underpinning the adoption and reimbursement, and health systems and policy, with a focus on healthcare financing, accessibility, quality, and regulation. He led innovative programs on antimicrobial resistance, cancer care and guidelines methods, while also mentoring young scientists from most global regions.

In 2015, he joined WHO as part of the Secretariat of the Model List of Essential Medicines (EML), which is responsible for maintaining and updating the WHO EML. This tool serves as a critical guide for 150 countries in selecting medicines that address their priority health needs. Updated biennially, the EML reflects evolving global health challenges and advancements in medical science.

Before joining WHO, Dr. Moja was involved with the Cochrane Collaboration and in the editorial or scientific boards of several medical publication programs.
