Alvin Lontum is a Researcher at eBASE Africa, a dynamic early-career researcher specializing in Health Economics, Data Management, Research Translation, and Online Search. Since joining eBASE Africa in 2019, he has served in various roles across multiple projects, establishing himself as a valuable team player.

Alvin is deeply passionate about improving livelihoods, focusing on disadvantaged groups such as persons with disabilities, women, and indigenous communities. He has made significant contributions to numerous projects, including playing a key role in contextualizing the UK’s Teaching and Learning Toolkit for countries within the Lake Chad Basin.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and amidst political tensions in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon, Alvin was at the forefront of efforts to combat the prevalence of sexual and gender-based violence. Additionally, he served as a data analyst on a project aimed at empowering families with differently-abled children.

In 2024, he trained over 50 students on research translation – using storytelling to improve knowledge on GBV, SRHR and family planning. These students further trained peers in the art and it is expected that it will reach more and more students.

Throughout his career, Alvin has consistently supported his peers in skill-building, transcription, organizing focus group discussions, and developing backend questions for mobile data collection apps. His dedication, eagerness to learn, strong communication skills, and attention to detail have enabled him to co-author publications and blogs.
