Ameer Hohlfeld holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from the University of Cape Town and is currently completing a PhD focused on research integrity with a focus on mitigating publication bias of clinical trials. Ameer Hohlfeld is a researcher at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) and a Senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Cape Town. He specialises in systematic review methodology, and evidence-based healthcare (EBHC).
He has over ten years of experience in EBHC research methods.
He is a certified guideline developer through the INGUIDE training, completed under a WHO scholarship, and is qualified to serve both as a methodologist and as Chair of guideline development groups. Nationally, he served as a member of the Tertiary Expert Review Committee, supporting South Africa’s National Essential Medicines List Committee, where he contributes to evidence appraisal and policy-relevant guideline development. Internationally, he was part of the World Health Organization’s Border Health Risk Dissemination unit, ensuring evidence informs global responses to cross-border health risks.
