Dr. Itziar Etxeandia Ikobaltzeta is a senior scientist at the Division of Clinical Policy’s Clinical Guidelines Program of the American College of Physicians (ACP), a position she has held since 2018. In this role, she provides scientific and methodological oversight for the development of ACP clinical guidelines, acting as a liaison between the Clinical Guidelines Committee and various ACP Centers of Evidence Review. Additionally, Dr. Etxeandia serves as the Vice-chair of the Updating and Living Guideline Working Group within the Guidelines International Network (GIN), where she contributes to advancing guideline development practices.

Prior to her tenure at ACP, Dr. Etxeandia held several positions that significantly enhanced her expertise in guideline development and health technology assessment. She acquired valuable experience at the Basque Office of Health Technology Assessments, served as a visiting research fellow at McMaster University, and worked as a consultant for the McMaster GRADE Centre. With her extensive background in evidence synthesis and guideline development, Dr. Etxeandia actively collaborates with global organizations to improve health care practices through rigorous methodological approaches.

Dr. Etxeandia was awarded an FGIN in 2025.
