Patrick Okwen is a district medical officer in Cameroon and Team lead at eBASE Africa. He has a background training in medicine and health economics. Patrick has a keen interest in evidence-based medicine, global health, and maternal and child health. At district level, Patrick manages the district health services of Bali in Cameroon.
In this role he is involved in ensuring smooth running of the district including ensuring effective supply chain of essential medicines, rational use of medicines, policy proposals. He is also actively involved in research and getting research evidence into clinical practice, especially exploring cost effective approaches for evidence implementation in resources challenged settings.
Patrick is a member of the GIN board of trustees, a Joanna Briggs Evidence Based Clinical Fellow, and an affiliate investigator of the Bruyère Research Institute in Canada. Patrick is leading a regional innovation of getting clinical practice guidelines to clinicians in Middle Africa known as the EBMAfricaNet. Patrick is fluent in French and English. Loves gardening and collecting plants from across the world.
