Dr Anna Sawka is a Clinician Scientist at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. She is an Associate Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Sawka received her medical degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and postgraduate fellowship in Endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. She then completed her PhD degree in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University, Canada.
Dr. Sawka has been active in clinical practice guideline development with the American Thyroid Association and the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology/Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. She has also participated in clinical practice guideline adaptation with Cancer Care Ontario. She co-founded and co-chaired the American Thyroid Association Guidelines and Statements Committee. Her research is currently supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Her clinical research interests include thyroid cancer treatment and outcomes, thyroid cancer survivorship issues, and medical decision-making in thyroid cancer.
