Dr. Karen Sharmini Sandanasamy is a Public Health Physician and Head of the Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) Unit at the Malaysian Health Technology Assessment Section (MaHTAS), Ministry of Health Malaysia. With more than 20 years of experience in public health leadership, she has been pivotal in strengthening Malaysia’s national evidence-based guideline ecosystem through the application of GRADE, AGREE II, and systematic review methodologies.
Currently leading over 20 national CPGs spanning major clinical areas, integrating digital dissemination through the Ask CPG AI platform, and spearheads Malaysia’s efforts toward electronic CPG (eCPG) integration into the national electronic medical record (MPIS). Dr. Sharmini Sandanasamy has a proven track record in public health initiatives, demonstrating versatility in areas such as risk communication, research, data analysis, and health policy development.
