Guidelines International Network is delighted to have recently welcomed the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) as a Premium member.
The UK Health Security Agency prepares for and responds to infectious diseases, and environmental hazards, to keep all our communities safe, save lives and protect livelihoods. They provide scientific and operational leadership working with local, national and international partners to protect the public’s health and build the nation’s health security capability.
UKHSA is an executive agency, sponsored by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). For most of UKHSA’s work, their remit covers England as health protection is largely a devolved policy area. They hold some UK-wide responsibilities on reserved matters where the UK government has retained policy responsibility.
Bethany Pace-Bonello (Principal Public Health Scientist, UKHSA Guidance Team, All Hazards Public Health Response) said:
“Joining GIN provides an exciting opportunity for UKHSA to connect with international partners. Through GIN, we look forward to sharing UKHSA’s expertise in public health guidance, learning from global partners, exploring diverse approaches to guidance development, and supporting more efficient, high‑quality guidance development, particularly in rapid response scenarios.”
GIN membership gives access to a range of benefits to both organisations and individuals, allowing them to be at the centre of the leading global guideline community, promoting collaboration, shared experiences and latest developments across the globe.
Daniela Carl (CEO of Guidelines International Network) said:
“We are excited to welcome the UK Health Security Agency to the global Guidelines International Network community. The joining of UKHSA marks an important step in the continued growth of GIN’s international network.
As the global network connecting organisations and individuals involved in evidence-based health guidelines, GIN fosters networking, collaboration, knowledge exchange and innovation in guideline development and implementation worldwide. UKHSA’s expertise in public health protection and rapid response guidance will bring tremendous value to our community and especially timely as we strengthen our focus on public health through the development of a dedicated Public Health Working Group. We look forward to working together to advance high-quality, evidence-informed guidance that supports better health outcomes globally.”
