Dr. Shelley Deeks is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health for the province of Nova Scotia, Canada and an Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto and at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia. She is the Chair of Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), a member of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group of Experts Polio Working Group and past chair of WHO’s Immunization Practices Advisory Committee.
Dr Deeks has over 25 years’ experience as a public health leader, having worked at all levels of the public health system in Canada and at the national level in Australia. She has over 150 publications and co-author on numerous NACI statements. She holds fellowships in Public Health at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
