Markus Follmann is dermatologist and holds master’s degrees in public health and Epidemiology. Currently he is head of the department Evidence based Medicine and Guidelines at the German Cancer Society and coordinates the German Guideline Program in Oncology (GGPO).
In this position he supports the guideline groups and teaches evidence-based medicine and guideline methodology. He has a strong interest in bringing together the world of guideline developers and quality management.
The GGPO has established a process for developing and upgrading guideline-based performance measures. Markus is active member of the Guidelines International Network (Performance Measures Working Group), the GRADE Working Group and the German Network for Evidence based medicine.
He is vice-chair of methodology of the Guideline Development Group of the European Commission Initiative of Breast Cancer (ECIBC) and member of the European Joint Action ‘Innovative Partnership for Action Against Cancer’ (iPAAC).
