Tracy Merlin

Tracy Merlin is a Professor of Health Technology Assessment in the School of Public Health, University of Adelaide, South Australia and the Managing Director and co-founder of Adelaide Health Technology Assessment (AHTA), one of the largest health technology assessment (HTA) agencies in Australia.

 AHTA undertake multi-million dollar applied research and evaluation activities on behalf of various government and non-government agencies. Tracy is a methodologist and has developed a number of approaches used in guideline development and in HTA.  This work has directly informed health policy and clinical practice in Australia.

In addition to evidence synthesis and health technology assessment, Tracy has been involved in guideline development since 2001. This has predominantly included developing clinical practice and public health guidelines for the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and advising on the methods that are used in evidence-based guideline development.

Tracy is currently Vice Chair of the Board of the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA) and Chair of the English Editorial Board of the international HTA Glossary. She has been a member of G-I-N since 2013.
