Evidence-based Guidelines Affecting Policy, Practice and Stakeholders IV (E-GAPPS IV) invites healthcare providers, representatives of the clinical practice guideline community, information specialists and healthcare consumers to engage in a two-day event exploring what shaped the responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in North America. It will explore the innovative approaches with which clinicians and guideline developers met the urgent need of evidence-informed clinical guidance amidst the chaos that accompanied the surges, and, new opportunities for collaboration between the guideline community and healthcare providers in preparation for future global crises.
Day 1: COVID-19 and the Challenge to Guidance Conference

Time: 1 pm to 5 pm EST (4 hours)
A traditional conference-style virtual event will kick off with introductory remarks by Michael Dowling, President & CEO of Northwell Health, NY Governor’s Covid Surge Planning Council, and will feature esteemed clinicians, guideline developers and consumers from Canada, Mexico and the United States, who will share their experiences, insight, learnings and future plans on the following panels:

Day 2: COVID-19 and the Challenge to Guidance Open Space Meeting
Date: March 24 2021
Time: 1 pm to 5 pm EST (4 hours)
On the second day of the event, with information, observations and potential lessons from Day 1, participants will actively engage in learning from each other while exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the ongoing pandemic as well as in preparation for future such global crises, in a virtual open space, peer-to-peer learning event led by professional facilitator Christi Zuber, PhD of Aspen Labs. In open space meetings, participants create and manage the agenda with parallel break out meetings around a central theme of importance. The day’s “igniter” will be Sandra Zelman Lewis, PhD, past Chair of GIN North America, President of EBQ Consulting.
