Jako Burgers, MD PhD
Jako Burgers is Head of the Department of Guideline Development and Research at the Dutch College of General Practitioners and works part-time as general practitioner in Gorinchem.
He was Senior Researcher at IQ healthcare, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre from 2008 to 2011 and program director at the Dutch Institute for Healthcare Improvement CBO from 2004 to 2008.
He is co-author of the AGREE Instrument (Appraisal Guidelines Research and Evaluation) and AGREE II, trustee of the AGREE Research Trust, and member of the AGREE A3 Research Team.
In 2008/09 he was Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice, based at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston. His research focused on coordination of care and strengthening primary care for patients with multiple conditions
He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles on guidelines and quality of care and gave lectures and training workshops in Europe, Canada, United States, Taiwan, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
